POETRY - EMOTION: Wallflower

They call me
Wallflower
I stand behind everyone else
waiting to be chosen
afraid someone will chose me
Invisible
people look pass me
or through me
never offering a smile
never replying when I speak
nor including me in their
conversation
they know I'm
no beauty
queen with a sparkling smile
being a bride's maid
or marrying into
society
Mine is not
a ravaged face
and I lack the social grace
to entertain
I am the girl who is inane
so I invent lovers on
my phone so I
don't feel alone
I can pretend
they call me My Love
and bestow deserving kisses
I giggle like a
debutante
When all I ever really want
is to never know the
pain of not being named
when they're choosing
partners for any game
or being called
Wallflower
